Adventures into Language Bringing children's literature alive by reading the story then living the adventure, where children become the heroes and stories literally come to life. - Suitable for school groups from Years 4 to 7
- One, two or three day programs, residential and non-residential
- Each program is based on a children's book based in Australia.
After reading the book in class students are involved in preparation prior to going out and living the story. Part 1 takes place at school reading and discussing the book and getting ready for the adventure. Part 2 is the adventure at a specifically chosen site which resembles the setting as described by the author. This will involve walking, exploring, experiencing and journal writing about impressions and feelings. Part 3 occurs back at school writing their own stories, sharing stores and sharing letters with the author. Perhaps even sharing a visit with the author. The site for the adventure is especially chosen to resemble the settings of the book. The books have been chosen to ensure that they will provide: - exciting natural world experiences
- opportunities to relate closely with some of the characters in the story
- important social, cultural and environmental issues
- characters whom all students will identify with
